CYMATICS
This experiment is an added component to the 9807 Project as the cymatic visualization of car idling experience. The video is the result of testing the liquid's response to 0 Hz - 250 Hz. Mclaren's engine note resonates with my set-up at around 125 Hz which you can locate at 6:20-6:30. However, the experiment is carried out to test the wider possible ranges of frequency in order to showcase other possibilites of this technique of visualization.
The set-up consists of a frying pan filled with a layer of water, then mounted on a 8" subwoofer. The patterns are documented with an iphone camera that has two different size ring LEDs mounted centered with the lens so that the water would reflect the light while being disturbed by the vibration fired by the subwoofer.
